GSE Events Feedback 2010

GSE Management Summit, Berlin, Germany

"The event provided an excellent overview of the topic of Cloud Computing and its services. Not only were the advantages clearly demonstrated, but there was also an opportunity to discuss remaining open questions on the application of Cloud Computing services into industrial enterprises. I look forward to participating in further GSE events.”
Mr. Frank Raecke, Head of Bayer Data Center, Global IT Operations, Bayer Business Services GmbH, Germany

"With Cloud Computing as its central theme, this Summit demystified for me a concept of which I didn’t necessarily fully appreciate the relevance to my company. The presenters explained Cloud Computing from different angles and perspectives: the different “flavours” and approaches, the potential benefits (cost, quality, time-to-market), the main remaining hurdles and challenges, and plausible candidates for piloting the concept. Other topics which were of particular interest to me were the presentations on technology innovation and trends. It was also comforting to see the academic initiatives IBM is taking to ensure System z skills durability."
Mr. François Matthijs, Director, Corporate Technology division, Euroclear SA/NV, Belgium

“I found my experience with GSE to be an excellent opportunity to meet the people responsible for today’s IT. The Management Summit was well-organized and held in a perfect location and I enjoyed my stay in Berlin. Some of the sessions were tailored so specifically towards the managers and others already working in the industry, that they did not offer much from a student perspective. However, I was pleased to see overall a clear link between the Summit topics and my current education. My studies on Business Information Systems are to improve the ability of businesses to make better decisions by applying information technology. Typically this means the collection, dissemination, and organization of different kinds of data in a useful way so that it's easier to make important choices. What I saw on the GSE Management Summit was exactly this on how to improve your business in a smart way. I hope to see more of GSE in the future."
Mr. Jozef Baiden, 2nd Year Student of Business Information Systems, InHolland University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands

"It's a very useful event for students. We were able to get some impressions of business which universities never can teach us. Thank you !"
Mr. Markus Mangei, 2nd Year Student of Information Technology, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, Germany

GSE Industry Solution Council "Business Analytics", La Gaude, France

"This GSE event brought a wealth of well-structured information combined with the opportunity to ask specific questions and get detailed answers from real experts - thereby enabling a much more streamlined and effective planning of our further BI development. Moreover, in a 10-minute discussion during the coffee break, one of the specialists showed us the short-cut solution of one of our minor problems (that had nevertheless plagued us for some time), which shows once more that the informal part of such events is simply invaluable."
Mr. J. Ernst Oberklammer, Project Head of BI, Public Employment Service Austria (AMS), Austria

"This ISC helped me try to introduce a new point of view into my daily work. Eric Chicha proves to be a great communicator and a true scholar in his field. On top of that, I now know what COGNOS means... Thanks to GSE for the invitation!"
Mr. José Manuel Portillo Sánchez, Outsourcing Service Manager, Confederación Española de Cajas de Ahorros (CECA), Spain

GSE Management Advisory Council "Information Management, System z", Silicon Valley, USA

"I found it particularly interesting and exciting to be able to discuss with the IBM experts without being limited to a particular topic. The networking amongst participants was an extremely positive experience for me, as was the discovery that many others were looking for solutions to similar problems to mine."
Mr. Manfred Allgaier, CEO, Zweckverband Kommunale Informationsverarbeitung Reutlingen-Ulm (KIRU), Germany

European Enterprise Modernization for zOS, Frankfurt, Germany / Copenhagen, Denmark

"Attending the GSE Enterprise Modernization European Working Group meeting provides insight into the future development of RD/z and at the same time the ability to influence the direction it will take."
Mr. Markus Holzem, Tool Architect, Generali Deutschland Informatik Services GmbH, Germany

"Competent speakers, first-hand information from IBM and the opportunity to talk to other customers as well as IBM developers from the lab made the GSE Enterprise Modernization Working Group events in Frankfurt and Copenhagen definitely worth a visit."
Ms. Sabine Lauterbach, Software Developer, Datev eG, Germany

4th GSE/IBM European Workshop for z/VSE, z/VM and Linux on System z, Munich, Germany

"This was the first time that we attended this Conference. We were left with an extremely positive impression overall, not least due to the concentrated competence offered within the framework of this GSE event. The opportunity to meet companies and business partners was very much appreciated. The organization of the event was well-structured and the location well-chosen. The agenda had a wide variety of presentations and was well-planned, as well as followed stringently to the minute (some presentations unfortunately had to be accelerated to reach their conclusions). It was most useful to us to see current issues in technology with regard to zLinux on System z, along with a good look into the future. Discussing experiences with GSE Members, IBM, business partners and customers was also very useful.”
Mr. Christian Maichel & Mr. Uwe Nitsche, System Programmers, Deutsche Rentenversicherung Baden-Württemberg, Germany

"At the GSE conference in Munich we were able to meet IBM experts who could provide the latest information straight from the lab. This has helped us toward coming to the right decision for future projects concerning our IT infrastructure."
Mr. Oliver Röthinger, Systems Engineer, Sparda Datenverarbeitung e.G., Germany
