We would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2012 GSE Academic Award for Excellence programme by entering a submission. The GSE Academic Award Committee greatly enjoyed reviewing your submissions and after much thought and discussion, we are pleased to announce the Grand Prize Winner, 1st Runner Up and the 2nd Runner Up.

Grand Prize Winner
Markus Nentwig submitted a project on "SPSS Modeler Integration with IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator". Markus is a student at the University of Leipzig, Germany and will present his winning project at the GSE Management Summit in Nice on 8 October 2012.

1st Runner Up
Steffen Vaupel, University Hohenheim Stuttgart and The An Binh Nguyen, Technical University Darmstadt, submitted a project on "Energy efficiency enterprise modeling, analyze and refactoring".

2nd Runner Up
Roxana Toader submitted a project on "A Service Science Knowledge Environment". Roxana is a student at the University Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania.
